Introduction:

This report describes the operation and specific activities of the Kansas City Scout Traffic Management Center (TMC). Activities for June 2007 are detailed in this report.

Operations Summary:

Incidents

  • TOC actively responded to 376 incidents
  • 13 were within a work zone
  • 19 involved Big Rigs
  • 46 involved injuries
  • 43involved fatalities
  • 4 possible secondary incidents
  • 24 indicated bad weather as a possible contributing factor

Dynamic Message Signs (DMS)

  • 824 activations
  • 1,265 messages were displayed

Web Site Messages

  • 583 total messages were posted to the web site including 159 for roadwork

Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) Usage

  • Activated 1 time

Equipment Operability

  • On average, 89% of the Cameras were completely operational
  • On average, 95% of the DMS were completely operational
  • On average, 93% of the Detector Stations were completely operational, 2% partly functional, 4% non-functional, and 1% undetermined

Additional Information

  • TOC operators logged 766 telephone calls with partner agencies
