How KC Scout Manages Incidents
KC Scout uses the Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Program to bring together emergency
responders, tow and recovery companies, along with traffic reporters from around
the Metro to seriously discuss each agency's needs for responding to on-scene incidents.
So that lanes are reopened and incidents are cleared as soon as possible, TIM's
top priorities include:
- Rescuing and removing the injured.
- Protecting responders and the scene.
- Minimizing environmental damage.
- Investigating the incident thoroughly and efficiently.
In addition, TIM Symposiums and Trainings for police, fire, emergency medical services,
and towing personnel are held to help establish proper traffic control procedures
at the incident site and points along the freeway corridor to significantly reduce
the chance of secondary incidents, which are usually more severe and produce more
fatalities.
