Program Impact
KC Scout's Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Program has resulted in a uniformed
incident scene, shorter accident clearance times, and less accidents related to
congestion. In 2009 freeway lanes were closed 201 fewer hours because of accidents
than in 2006 (before the TIM Program began). Specifically, lanes were closed an
average of 15.82 minutes per accident in 2006 with 980 accidents while lanes were
closed for just 14.91 minutes per lane in 2009 with more than twice as many accidents
at 2,315.
