Ramp Metering

In 2009 KC Scout installed ramp meters on I-435 between Metcalf Avenue and the Three Trails Memorial Crossing (formerly the Grandview Triangle). The meters are special traffic signals that enhance KC Scout's existing system of cameras, pavement sensors, and electronic message signs. This project introduced the concept of ramp metering to Kansas City drivers.

On the heels of that success, KC Scout considered ramp meters for other highly congested areas. In summer 2015, KC Scout installed another set of ramp meters at U.S. Highway 69 and 135th street in Overland Park.

In Fall 2015, in response to congestion issues on I-35, KC Scout began installing ramp meters in the area between the Kansas/Missouri state line and I-435. The meters went live in August 2017. Click link for a map of I-35 ramps now with meters: https://adobe.ly/2vMmrky
